  • We have completed some editing on the DRAFT recommendations and posted this poll. We would appreciate it if you could review and provide your input by completing the poll by Sunday January 10, 2021. This is to gauge your organizations level of support for the draft recommendations as we prepare for the final couple meetings in January. If you have a low level of support, or do not support a recommendation, you will have an option to provide additional comments. If desired, please use this space if there are any specific changes/additions that would increase your level of support. This will help frame discussions at the next meeting.

Please feel free to discuss the recommendations with others in your organization/sector, but remember that only ONE representative should complete the poll.

The Draft Recommendation documents can be found in the Recommendations folder to the right which includes new content in blue, and new structure being proposed for you to see based on previous meeting discussions. Recommendations to the Minister are now separate from recommendations to the department that can be implemented without Minister’s direction. The two documents are:

    1. Compiled list of Draft Recommendations with Rationale and Considerations
    2. A LIST of Draft Recommendations only without the Rationale and Considerations

This workbook consists of guiding questions to help you provide advice to Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) on the Minister’s request. Additional opportunities will be made available to provide more specific advice (e.g. specific trails and maps).

The following are excerpts from the letter sent by Jason Nixon, Minister of Environment and Parks, to the members of the Livingstone-Porcupine Recreational Advisory Group, including members from the Castle area:

“Provide Environment and Parks with advice on implementation of land-use plans for the area, and any proposed changes to land-use plans for the area if deemed necessary, to meet the environmental, social and economic outcomes for the area.”

“As a priority item raised by Albertans, focus early efforts on identifying outcomes for, and recommendations to, support implementation of a motorized trail system that looks at recreational as well as hunting and angling access, while mitigating other land-use concerns. This includes advice on the potential inclusion of motorized trails in the Castle Parks as part of an effective regional trail network.”
